Getting Plastered

This installation we carried out for a lovely couple, had a brick fireplace that had been built a considerable distance into the room and was somewhat overpowering, as opposed to being a feature.

It was decided that brick piers, the beam, the hearth and the plaster work had to go.

The trust that was given to Sarsen Energy, as with many other customers, to come up with suggestions and ideas that are within keeping of the property and are also in line with the customer tastes, is flattering.

It can sometimes be daunting from a clients point of view to try and envisage what the final outcome will actually look like.

Once the wall had been plastered it was now time to lay the brick hearth and site the stove.

The Woodwarm Fireview 5Kw Profiled Flat Top Stove, which is British made and one of the best stoves on the market, was the perfect choice.

With its fantastic 'Airwash' system and efficiency, the stove has the right kilowatt output and dimensions for the room and fireplace.

Due to the depth of the opening it was decided to mount the flue from the rear of the stove.

A twin wall flue, coloured to match the appliance was installed, due to proximity of the original beam at the top of the opening and to comply with current building regulations to combustible materials.

With the carpet down and the walls painted the finished article looked stunning.

It was a shame that temperature outside was too hot (I think it was our summer!) to light the stove, but we will add some photos with the stove alight later in the year.

This installation was summed up by a comment from the customer  in one sentence.     "We didn't know what we wanted at first, but ended up with exactly what we wanted"
